If there is any Anime series that is known for making Anime fans' morale dwindle drastically, it has to be Puella Magi Madoka Magica. While the first two episodes did not cause morale to go into free fall, the depression began in Episode 3, where Charlotte ate Mami Tomoe's head. Things only got worse from that point on.
And then, Sayaka Miki became a witch at the end of Episode 8. That's where morale plummeted even further. However, morale went up again when Madoka Kaname decided to become a goddess in Episode 12. Even then, this was a bittersweet ending because her physical existence was erased as a result of the choice she made.
Therefore, avoid Puella Magi Madoka Magica if you think your morale is prone to plummeting in the face of despair and looming doom.
