Moral Defeat

We have heard about moral victory, where the loser gets praised for standing up for their values. But almost nobody has heard about moral defeat. A good example of a moral defeat would be the Winter War, where Soviet Russia did win that conflict eventually, but Finland won the moral victory that got the praise from Western countries, including Germany.

Speaking of moral victories and moral defeats, with the official conclusion of Ash Ketchum's journey, any arrogant jerk who has wronged the born loser who became Pokemon World Champion might have just been given a moral defeat that they refuse to acknowledge despite not getting any comeuppance whatsoever the moment Ash comes to his realization that the only way to become a Pokemon Master is to befriend all the Pokemon.

The concept of moral defeat only became more popular when a meme featuring Wario in his losing pose from Mario Party 8 about winning at unknown costs was posted on the Internet. Since then, moral defeats have complemented moral victories.

Now imagine the moral defeats the rogue dictators will have when they conquer the renegade provinces that we call South Korea and Taiwan. While such rogue dictators are terrifying right now, their biggest nemesis will be the Abomination of Desolation that is prophesied to raze Jerusalem to rubble and devour the Earth, because they will have to confront it during the Day of the Lord. However, the Abomination of Desolation and the rogue dictators will team up to fight against the King of Kings. The end result will be the Beast and the False Prophet thrown into the Lake of Hellfire, while the remaining tyrants and their legions get obliterated. As for those who had been slaughtered or taken prisoner by these tyrannical dictators, their moral victory will be greatly rewarded by the King of Kings because the surviving prisoners chose to repent while in prison.

Victory At Unknown Cost

James Carter Cathcart has survived 2023 by defeating throat cancer, but he has been forced to retire as a result. In other words, he has ended up being like Wario in this comic. And yes, that is Wario's losing pose in Mario Party 8. Now that Cathcart has been forced to retire, who will voice Professor Oak's grandson Gary, as well as Team Rocket's James and Meowth? Maybe it will be Wario's new voice actor Kevin Afghani? Who knows?

Piracy Ban

Recently, Nintendo had been cracking down on several intellectual property infringements, both alleged and actual. Nintendo verified with their customers that copyright piracy is forbidden, and any unlicensed usage of their intellectual properties, which includes Nintendo music uploaded on YouTube, fan games, Mario Kart hacks and Super Smash Bros Ultimate character skin mods, do not meet the requirements of fair use. The resulting internet backlash was so severe that some people called for a boycott of Nintendo on social media.

However, all of this may have something to do with Japan's copyright regulations getting stricter, possibly leading to a gradual phasing out fair use and fair dealing. This had been happening since 2009 and is nothing new.

If you are living in Japan, this is a fair warning about the shambolic state of Japan Inc amid the recent scandals. Do something more honorable by buying from ethical companies and turning away from unethical ones.
