A Better Alternative to going Pantsless or Skirtless

If my webcomic's female OCs do wish to go pantsless and/or skirtless, they can always wear a buruma because the buruma is outerwear that looks like panties, meaning the girls can go pantsless and/or skirtless without having to expose their panties.

By the way, the female gym attire that includes a buruma in this comic is from Inuyasha, where Kagome was seen wearing that gym attire during physical education sessions.

Two Panties

Author's Note: The panties in this comic are not panties to begin with. Rather, the panty in the first panel that Arle took off in the middle panel is a buruma, while the panty in the last panel is the bottom part of her two-piece swimsuit. Both of these sports attires come from the Puyo Puyo sports spin-off PuyoLympics.

Track And Field Swimwear

The real reason the female athletics attire was designed to look like swimwear is because it would enhance the athlete's running performance. And if the female athletics attire look like female swimwear, maybe they should be worn for triathlons because swimming is involved in triathlons.

Shorts turning into Bloomers

Author's Note: If you want to know where the idea of short shorts being magically turned into bloomers came from, it came from a scene from the animated series "The World Only God Knows" where Elsie turns shorts into bloomers.

Imagine if Peach and Daisy were wearing bloomers in the first two games of the Mario Strikers series with their crop tops, how will people buying these soccer games from the Mario series think about the franchise and Nintendo as a whole? No wonder Mario Strikers: Battle League went with more conservative modesty for female characters. Gone were the days of girls wearing shorts that look like panties, because some of them feel uncomfortable about wearing shorts that look like panties.

Volleyball Shorts

Female volleyball shorts are known to be skin tight and sometimes skimpy. Sometimes they even look like panties. But they have to be that way for freedom of movement. This resulted in female volleyball shorts being subjected to internet fanservice. Here are five different variations of female volleyball shorts.

1. These shorts that look like panties are common in Japanese pop culture, with various anime and the NES Volleyball game being the most notable examples.

2. A common variation of female volleyball shorts. Offers freedom of movement as they resemble hipster panties. Commonly seen in several volleyball video games originating from Japan.

3. The most common variation of female volleyball shorts, and the type worn in many real life volleyball competitions. While it offers better modesty than shorts that look like panties, there were complaints that this type of shorts was still too skimpy. That's because the shorts look like boyshorts panties.

4. A pair of female volleyball shorts that offers better modesty than most female volleyball shorts. This pair of shorts should be the type that should be worn in volleyball competitions.

5. The female volleyball shorts that offers the best modesty. This type is the very definition of modesty shorts, and could potentially be the type that should be worn in volleyball competitions.

Female Japanese School Uniform Cliches

There are many overrated costumes in Japanese pop culture, with female school uniforms being one of the most notable examples.

The female school uniform we are all familiar with is called the "sailor fuku." It is a school uniform worn mostly by female middle school students, and attracts a lot of attention in anime. In high school, however, it is mostly replaced by the blazer uniform, which also attracts similar attention in some anime shows and video games.

Female sports attire used to have skimpy shorts called buruma, which is Japanese for bloomers. For looking like panties, the buruma became popular with various anime fanbases. However, at the end of the 1990s, they were eventually phased out in favour of sports shorts that provided more modesty in many schools throughout Japan. Therefore, the bloomers that looked like panties are considered "old-fashioned." Yet, female athletes taking part in athletics competitions are still wearing them.

The school swimsuit seen in various anime is called the "sukumizu." Both the "old type" and the "new type" have gained a lot of attention from anime fanbases, and the "new type" would actually be more suitable for swimming competitions, including swimming competitions featured in video games. If one is seen wearing a sukumizu to the beach when it does not involve a school field trip to the beach, either the person is modest or immature, depending on how you look at her.

Rejected Pikmin Treasures

While there are many treasures in the Pikmin games that are based on real life objects, not all treasures based on real life objects made the cut for the final versions of any Pikmin game. Here are five objects that were left out of both Pikmin 2 and Hey! Pikmin.

Striped bikini: Japan's obsession with striped lingerie, in particular, striped panties, may have made striped bikinis popular as well. But Nintendo does not want anything that could give any of their games a "Mature" rating.

Bloomers: In Japan, bloomers looked like panties, which could explain why they're so popular in Japanese pop culture. Similarly to the striped bikini, the bloomers could potentially cause a game to get a "Mature" rating.

Floppy disk: If Olimar and his Pikmin friends could come across Famicom Disk System disks, NES cartridges, Game Boy cartridges, an SD card, a computer mouse, and many other electronics components, why a floppy disk was not included in either Pikmin 2 or Hey! Pikmin, we do not know.

Vitamin jar: Dr Mario is a game where you use coloured megavitamins to eliminate viruses of the same colour. Nintendo could have included an empty jar with the coloured pills label still on it in either Pikmin 2 or Hey! Pikmin, to add a reference to Dr Mario, but they chose not to, probably for reasons why the "Arboreal Frippery" had its colour changed from green to red for the European/Australian version of Pikmin 2.

Axe head: We all know the story of how Elisha caused an axe head to float. Therefore, an axe head should have been one of the treasures in Pikmin 2. But there are many problems with having a treasure based on an axe head. Axe heads are heavy, and would probably need to be carried by Purple Pikmin. If the axe head is in water, only Blue Pikmin can retreive the axe head as they do not drown unlike other coloured Pikmin. Also, axes are sharp, and the blade area would hurt anyone who touches it. With all these problems, the axe head had to be omitted from the final version of Pikmin 2.

Perspectives on Bloomers

Bloomers are female sports shorts that happen to look like panties. They used to be common in Japanese schools until the 1990s when modesty concerns phased them out completely. Despite that, bloomers have remained a part of Japanese pop culture, and are still being worn by female athletes in athletics tournaments such as the Olympic Games.

There are many different perspectives on bloomers. While some opinions about bloomers are about modesty concerns as they look like panties, other opinions would say that bloomers are comfy and cool given their resemblance to panties or swimwear bottoms.

Super Mario Strikers Bloomers Attire

I think Nintendo did not want females to be wearing bloomers because they were actually more skimpy than the short shorts worn in the Mario Strikers series.

For your information, the below image has Samus, Peach and Daisy wearing sports bras and crop tops with short shorts.

And this is what female volleyball players wear in the NES/Famicom Disk System version of Volleyball:

Just look at the pair of shorts she is wearing. The pair of bloomers she is wearing looks more like a pair of panties.

Would you want to have female characters wear shorts that look like panties if they are wearing sports bras or crop tops as well?
