PlayStation Museum Articafts

If an actual PlayStation Museum does exist, it would definitely need items from PlayStation's 30-year history. Here are some PlayStation-related items that I believe would have belonged in a PlayStation Museum if such a place exists.

Crime Crackers and its sequel Crime Crackers 2 are forgotten Japan-only games for the PS1. It's a huge shame because Crime Crackers was the very first PS1 game developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Do you still remember the PS1 and PS2 demo discs that came with various PlayStation magazines? They would definitely be great artifacts for a PlayStation Museum.

If you have played PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, you would have been familiar with Polygon Man. Before he became the final boss of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, he was the original advertiser of Sony's PlayStation. Therefore, PlayStation advertisement posters featuring Polygon Man belong in a PlayStation Museum.

Other artifacts that would be perfect for a PlayStation Museum would include a Gold PlayStation 2, a PocketStation and a Silver PlayStation 2 Slim. While the PocketStation would be an easier find, the Gold PS2 and Silver PS2 Slim are less common and therefore, are harder to find.

While there are lots of PlayStation-related items that will be featured in a PlayStation Museum, these eight items deserve more respect in my opinion. Especially the Crime Crackers games, the PS1 and PS2 demo discs, and the Polygon Man advertisement posters.

No More Concord

The servers for Concord are closing it doors today. The gamers are hoping it will be for good. Looks like the closure of Concord's servers will be a big L for the leftists.

The iron law of "Get Woke, Go Broke" wins again, and Sony had to learn this lesson the hard way after losing $200 million. While the losses are not as bad as Nintendo's Year of Luigi, this is a huge loss that will force Sony to renounce DEI altogether.

Update: The financial losses turned out to be $400 million. As a result, Sony had to shut down Concord developers Firewalk Studios, essentially destroying all hopes of Concord getting a revival.

Voice Actress Audition

Author's Note: Given that I do not own Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I do not know if the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy production team gave Jenova a voice for that infamous quote where she taunts Cloud by saying "Because, you are... a puppet."

If Jenova had a voice actress, that voice actress would have to make the villainess sound menacing. Currently, the two best choices for Jenova's voice would be to either make her sound like the Evil Queen from the Animated Disney Snow White or to make her sound like a female version of Polygon Man. However, having no set form means it's almost impossible for Jenova to have a voice, which is why everything about Jenova is very unsettling, including her theme...

Swimming Pool Matriarch Visual Gag Variations 2

Another Matriarch of the Swimming Pool visual gag variations comic? Looks like this comic could become a new Internet meme.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Pyra wears a tiny pair of shorts. It was so tiny that she had to wear a pantyhose when she became playable in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. However, Pyra's tiny shorts are actually comfortable. They just look rather silly, though.

People wonder how Tekken elements such as Kazuya Mishima being a playable character as well as a Heihachi Mishima Wig for Mii Fighters and a Heihachi Mishima Mii Brawler costume could be included in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Well, Tekken's history on Nintendo platforms began with Tekken Advance for the Game Boy Advance, although this was eclipsed by the Wii U Edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in terms of popularity, but still, as the first Tekken game on a Nintendo platform, Tekken Advance remains an important footnote in Tekken history.

Did you know that kokeshi dolls were the main inspiration for the Miis that became the digital avatars for the Nintendo Wii, 3DS, Wii U and Switch consoles? Unlike the kokeshi dolls which do not have arms or legs, Miis have protruding limbs for arms and legs.

Relegating an advertising mascot to the sidelines for 17 years for being too scary is surely not the right thing to do for Ken Kutaragi. That was how Polygon Man became a malevolent being who seeks to take over Sony.

The original Street Fighter had Ryu and Ken as playable characters. It also had many ports, most of which are almost unplayable as compared to the barely playable Arcade version, and Ken does not even appear in the Amiga and Amstrad CPC versions.

While the MSX computer was associated with Sony and Panasonic, Fujitsu was also one of the manufacturers of the MSX computer. In fact, Fujitsu manufactured the MSX as the FM-X alongside their competing computing range, in the form of the FM-7, FM-8 and FM-77.

MSX 40th Anniversary

Author's Note: The MSX going for another 40 years would be too unrealistic. Instead, the more realistic goal would be the 50th Anniversary of the MSX computer.

Today marks 40 years to the day the MSX computer launched in Japan. The MSX was the computer that laid the foundations for the transformation of Sony into the grandmaster of the video game industry we know today. Simply put it, before MSX, Sony had the SMC series of computers, which were all but unsuccessful. Once Sony started manufacturing MSX computers, Sony ended up having the lion's share of MSX computer sales when production ended. This resulted in the MSX being associated with Sony, which in turn, propelled Sony to enter the video game industry with their PlayStation, and the rest is history.

Variations of a Polygon Man Introduction

Even a malevolent polygonal head like Polygon Man knows that Microsoft and Nintendo needs to suffer his fury for their bad business ethics. In fact, Sony still can never forgive Nintendo for their 1991 betrayal that nearly killed off the PlayStation before it could even be conceived. So if you are unhappy with the unethical business ethics of Nintendo and Microsoft, perhaps joining forces with Sony would be a better option, even if Sony sometimes behave like a jerk just like Polygon Man.

Parallel Economy Video Game Industry

Now is the time for the parallel economy to rise, and the parallel economy should create its own video game industry by having its own video game console so that people who are boycotting Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft for various reasons can jump ship. Even better still, the parallel economy should have its very own version of Steam, which would have games that are compatible with Linux operating systems.

Whether or not 3DO manufacturers Panasonic and LG supported artistic freedom and fair use remains a mystery. But both companies are definitely better than Nintendo when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Yes, Taiwan did try to leave a footnote on video game history with the Super A'Can, which is obviously not a Famiclone. Unfortunately, it was unable to compete with consoles from established brands such as Nintendo, Sega and Sony, resulting in the discontinuation of the Super A'Can. If Taiwan wishes for its sovereignty to survive, supporting the parallel economy is the only option left for them, and they can start by joining forces with parallel economy advocates from the Anglosphere. Perhaps Taiwan will manufacture their own video game console again, so that console gamers will have a true alternative to Nintendo, PlayStation, and XBox. An alternative that promotes freedom of expression.

Console and Computer Equality

Let's face it. All of these consoles and computers featured in this comic would have moderate success in Singapore if not for the video game prohibition of 1983 that saw arcades banned for several years. Part of the prohibition included Singapore Broadcasting Corporation banning any telecast of video game commercials whatsoever. Even educational games such as Oregon Trail and Basic Math/Fun With Numbers were also affected by the prohibition.

While video game consoles and home computers were not banned by the prohibition, the period of that prohibition greatly affected the Commodore C64 and the Colecovision, and these two gaming machines were more popular than some of these consoles and computers featured in this comic. Sometimes, we just cannot have nice things, all because we had to protect our morals.

Sony's Most Malevolent Character

If you want to know why PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is not getting a sequel, this is because the various heroes, villains and other miscellaneous characters throughout the history of Sony's PlayStation successfully defeated the malevolent being that made them destroy each other so that he can get rid of them and become the sole mascot of PlayStation. We're talking about Polygon Man, the purple polygonal head that PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi rejected at E3 1995. In the 17 years between that fateful rejection and the E3 2012 Trailer for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Polygon Man became Sony's most malevolent character, driven by the bitterness that he had since being rejected by Ken Kutaragi. So malevolent that he even seeks to destroy the villains of PlayStation. But he just wishes to enslave everybody in order to destroy the PlayStation World and reforge it in his own image as payback for Ken Kutaragi's rejection.

DLC Finale Hype

In anime and manga, magical girls are portrayed as protectors of their hometown and perhaps their world. Back when I was a kid, I would even think that magical girls would go toe to toe with the likes of a cap-wearing Shonen adolescent. However, this is not possible, as said adolescent would not be allowed to even punch his enemies, and not to forget that non-video game characters are not allowed to participate in a dueling tournament designed to be a celebration of video game history. If that is not enough, some magical girls face monstrous villains that will make most of gaming's worst villains look weak in comparison. Thankfully, Rit from Rod Land is not one of these magical girls. However, if she is not the final Fighters Pass character, just trying her best to get that slot will be more than enough for her to prove herself a heroine to the magical girl community.

Unlike Microsoft, who allowed Banjo-Kazooie and Minecraft's Steve to participate in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Sony will never consider having any of their characters take part in a Nintendo dueling tournament. Despite porting several first-party PlayStation titles to Windows PCs in recent months, as well as an official mobile Lemmings game, Sony will never even think of having any of their characters fill the final Fighters Pass character slot. This is because of Nintendo's betrayal of Sony in 1991, which left Sony bitter towards Nintendo to this day.

Who knows if Polygon Man really dislikes Nintendo and Microsoft more than he dislikes PlayStation mascots...

Update: Sora from Kingdom Hearts just got the final Fighters Pass character slot, and he is not property of Sony Interactive Entertainment. This means Super Smash Bros Ultimate does not have any characters from Sony Interactive Entertainment at all. In other words, Polygon Man dislikes Nintendo and Microsoft a lot more than PlayStation mascots...

Predictions for an Endgame Scenario

Author's Note: Currently, as at the time of this comic being published, Wooden Plank Studios' Kazuya Story Arc is still ongoing.

It all started with Sephiroth poisoning his guests at the E3 Dinner Party. Tekken's Kazuya Mishima managed to find Incineroar and Kirby still alive. However, he had to begin his quest to revive everyone who perished at the E3 Dinner Party. Why Sephiroth poisoned everyone remains unclear. However, it may have something to do with Sony not being at E3 2021. This could mean that the mastermind behind Sephiroth's mass poisoning was not only his mother Jenova, who is not quite dead despite being technically dead for thousands of years since the destruction of the Cetra, but Sony, the creators and owners of the PlayStation brand, could possibly have been involved in what appears to be an anti-Nintendo plot as well as an anti-Microsoft plot.

We have not reached the point where any of these endgame scenarios will happen yet. But the one where Sephiroth pulls a Tim Curry by quoting Cherdenko's quote of escaping his enemies, will reveal that Sony is the one place that hasn't been corrupted by Nintendo's tripe. All three possible endgame scenarios will involve the PlayStation characters turning their weapons against Sephiroth because he hurt the Sackboy's feelings.

It's possible Polygon Man was the true mastermind behind all of this. He disliked E3 ever since he was rejected by PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi at E3 1995.

Update: None of my predictions were correct, but there was an Avengers: Endgame-style final battle between Kazuya's army and Sephiroth's army, and Kazuya's army emerged victorious because Kirby disabled Sephiroth's Jenova Cells with a Friend Heart, allowing Cloud and Joker to land a coup de grace on him. Once Sephiroth felt that could not stand punching Pichu, his army of villains disbanded, and he had to be Kazuya's prisoner. As for Jenova and Polygon Man, neither one showed up because they prefer to keep to the sidelines. It makes sense for Jenova because she was technically dead for thousands of years since the extinction of the Cetra people. In Polygon Man's case, he keeps to the sidelines even when you face him in the Boss Arena. The most the malevolent head could do is transform into stage hazards or slam on you like a Thwomp, which leaves him vulnerable to attack.

Now that Kazuya's Quest is over, Kazuya begins a new quest in the Paldea Region. Congratulations to Wooden Plank Studios for creating one of the longest story arcs in webcomic history!

In the name of Justice

Credits to Mediacorp and Channel NewsAsia (CNA) for the image in this comic.

In 2019, Japan restricted high-tech exports to South Korea. This made South Koreans unhappy because South Korean companies Samsung and LG are the main customers of these high-tech exports from Japan. As a result, South Koreans staged a "Boycott Japan" protest, calling for a boycott of Japanese products and Japanese companies. One of those Japanese companies that was targeted by the boycott campaign is Nintendo, who in recent years, has been negatively criticized for their anti-piracy campaign when it comes to intellectual property protection and shutting down fan-made projects for allegedly violating their trademarks and copyrights, resulting in people threatening to boycott them.

So if you want to fight for digital freedom, please share this comic to show your support for victims of oppression during 35 years of imperialist rule.

Farewell to old friends

Author's Note: This comic was conceived in response to Sony announcing the PlayStation 4 on the 20th of February, 2013. Time constraints mean that by the time this comic was completed, the PlayStation 4 was already available on retail for several years, while the PlayStation 3 is no longer in production. Now that Sony announced the PlayStation 5, this comic will be for commemorating Sony's PlayStation 5 announcement as well as the 25th anniversary of the original Sony PlayStation in all regions outside Japan.

For those wondering why Klonoa is the character saying his farewells to the PlayStation consoles in this comic, that's because the Klonoa series began on the PlayStation, and Klonoa was a prominent Namco character during the PlayStation 2 era. The dates in the first two panels are references to the discontinuation of the production of the PS1 in 2006 and the PS2 on the 4th of January, 2013. As for Klonoa frowning on the PS3 in the last two panels, it's not because the PS3 has no Klonoa titles, but the PS4 is not backwards compatible with its predecessors. Note that Klonoa is holding a PS3 Slim in the last two panels, and the date on the third panel is a reference to the day the PS4 was announced.

The PlayStation 5 will be backward compatible with most PS4 titles, but it will not be backward compatible with any game from the PS1, PS2 or PS3. Therefore, expect Klonoa to shun the PS5 for being backward compatible with the PS4 only, and totally leaving out the PS3, PS2 and PS1.

PlayStation at 25

It's unbelievable that Sony could create a video game console line that will last 25 years back in 1994. Nobody expected the PlayStation name to last 25 years, not even Sony. But the PlayStation name lasted through four video game console generations, and with PlayStation 5 possibly coming soon, the PlayStation line will possibly continue through the next generation of video game consoles.

Happy 25th Anniversary, Sony PlayStation! The video game industry would never be this big without you!
