The Father of Sega Consoles

Sad news, Sega fans. Hideki Sato, the father of all of Sega's consoles from the SG-1000 to the Dreamcast, and Sega's honcho from 2001 until 2003, died on the 13th of February, 2026. And it doesn't help that his death happened on a Friday of all days...

What does the Sega SG-1000, the Sega Master System, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, the Sega Saturn and the Sega Dreamcast all have in common? Hideki Sato stewarded the design of all of these Sega consoles. He also became Sega's honcho in 2001 when Sega exited hardware production to focus on third-party games for other platforms, and presided over the company until 2003.

If you want to feel old, just remember that Hideki Sato was Sega's honcho during a period when Sega was transitioning from hardware production to third-party publisher.

Hey, guys. I'm back with yet another comic about my OCs in a lawyer-friendly version of the "Thinking about other women" meme.

Hebereke is a penguin, and therefore, Sunsoft would have paid his salaries in sardines and anchovies because penguins eat sardines and anchovies.

While Tectoy was known for being Brazil's distributor of Sega consoles such as the Sega Master System and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, what we do not know is that Tectoy was also the distributor of a forgotten console called the Zeebo. Unfortunately, the Zeebo was not a commercial success due to a limited game library, with all of them being digital-only. Of course the Zeebo failed to overtake the Sega Master System and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in Brazil.

Wollongong is definitely overlooked as far as Australian tourism is concerned. It's just 80 kilometers south of Sydney, and yet more people prefer the well known parts of Australia.

Given that zombies are a recurring enemy in the Castlevania series, the Belmont family would definitely dislike the zombies from Plants Vs Zombies.

I'm very sure Crazy Dave from Plants Vs Zombies would end up doing well as a shopkeeper in RuneScape.

Console and Computer Equality

Let's face it. All of these consoles and computers featured in this comic would have moderate success in Singapore if not for the video game prohibition of 1983 that saw arcades banned for several years. Part of the prohibition included Singapore Broadcasting Corporation banning any telecast of video game commercials whatsoever. Even educational games such as Oregon Trail and Basic Math/Fun With Numbers were also affected by the prohibition.

While video game consoles and home computers were not banned by the prohibition, the period of that prohibition greatly affected the Commodore C64 and the Colecovision, and these two gaming machines were more popular than some of these consoles and computers featured in this comic. Sometimes, we just cannot have nice things, all because we had to protect our morals.
