Four-Pointed Stars

In RuneScape, Saradomin's emblem is a four-pointed star. The four-pointed star is also the emblem of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Alliance. This would mean the Saradominist faction is the RuneScape equivalent of NATO. But this uncanny similarity has yet to be officially confirmed by Jagex, and that's because Saradomin's four-pointed star came from the crown he's wearing while NATO's four-pointed star represents a compass that is keeping the Allies on the right road that is the path of peace.

The End of Runescape Java Client

Goodbye, Runescape Java Client. You were a great alternative to the Java browser plugin when it had problems. However, like the Java browser plugin, time was not on your side.

On the 18th of December, 2019, the Runescape Java Client will be officially discontinued.

In the twelve years playing Runescape from 2005 until quitting the game for good in 2017, I have never used the Runescape NXT Client. Given that NXT will need a high-end computer, I had always stuck with the Java browser plugin and the Runescape Java Client to play Runescape. The lack of means to play Runescape was the reason I quit the game totally.

The End of Funorb

On the 8th of May, 2018, Jagex announced that the FunOrb servers will close down on the 7th of August, 2018.

Having played the games of FunOrb during its early years, it is sad that the website had to close its doors for good. However, with Mozilla Firefox version 52 terminating support for the Java browser plug-in, leaving the troublesome Internet Explorer as the only web browser to support the Java plug-in, it will make sense for Jagex to make a painful decision.

Also, the discontinuation of the Java plug-in by good web browsers such as Firefox and Chrome was one of the reasons that made me decide to quit Runescape on the 27th of March, 2017. Given that plug-ins have become vulnerabilities as well, I would also get rid of the Java plug-in, which I already did, if it means getting rid of software vulnerabilities.

Update: FunOrb did go offline on the 7th of August, 2018. The link to the FunOrb website now redirects to the Jagex website.
