If the current crisis and the Persian Gulf and the closure of the Lycos-owned website hosting services Tripod and Angelfire were not bad enough to make 2026 a bad year, then the discontinuation of Microsoft Office Publisher after 35 years made a bad year even worse, and Microsoft was emphasizing about Publisher's discontinuation back in 2024.

At least LibreOffice Draw has the power to open Microsoft Office Publisher files, but other than that, the only alternative is to convert all the Microsoft Office Publisher files into PDFs, Word documents, or PowerPoint presentations. So much for obsolescence...
