It's official. Jagex has already stated on the official RuneScape Twitter account that the copyright protection for the RuneScape game, which was originally registered in 1999, does not cover RuneScape's Original Soundtrack. That is because the RuneScape Original Soundtrack was first created in 2003 for the beta testing of the second-generation version of the RuneScape game, which was launched in 2004 and was later revived in 2013 as Old School RuneScape. Therefore, RuneScape's music is considered royalty-free music, and fair use of royalty-free music is actually allowed.
