Pop culture has a bizarre way of making various clothing popular. In fact, males being obsessed with certain types of female clothing would not be possible if not for comics, TV shows and video games.
Of course, the attractiveness of female school uniforms cannot be generalised. In fact, it depends on which school happens to have an attractive female school uniform.
It just so happens that the tight-fitting leotard looks like a female one-piece swimsuit. But leotards are not meant to be worn for swimming, let alone getting wet. Yet, for looking like a one-piece swimsuit, leotards get the same fanservice treatment as female swimwear, and in recent years, swimwear designers created female swimsuits with long sleeves that made people wonder if they are really wearing an actual swimming costume.
